this little pose-helper is an awesome reference… I’VE BEEN DOODLING ON THIS THING ALL NIGHT, and for me (someone who can’t think up her own poses to save her life) it’s a glorious tool — it even has a save option so you can pop that shit right into photoshop and use it as a rough copy for your lineart. i don’t know who sent me this or why, but BLESS.

Well, this is incredibly useful and also addicting

Not everyone sees the same color when they stare at this spinning disk.
The gif is called, “Benham’s disk" "is named after the English toymaker Charles Benham, who in 1895 sold a top painted with the pattern shown. When the disk is spun, arcs of pale color, called Fechner colors or pattern-induced flicker colors (PIFCs), are visible at different places on the disk. Not everyone sees the same colors."
"The phenomenon originates from neural activity in the retina and spatial interactions in the primary visual cortex, which plays a role in encoding low-level image features, such as edges and spatiotemporal frequency components."
Fascinating how our brains work, I see a brown tan, what do you see? :D

leg refences

Reblogging this not only for artists but also for people who write werewolf (and other animal transformation) fiction.  If a human turned into a wolf, their knee joints would not reverse— what some fic writers mistake for the knee is actually the ankle.  A wolf’s hind feet are relatively long, and they are always walking in way roughly analogous to human “tip-toeing.”

For the anon who asked for hair painting tips- because I suck at words I made this quick thing. This is basically how I paint hair
Steps 1 to 4 : start with a middle shade of the color you wanna give the hair and then paint in a lot of shadow
Steps 5 to 7 : get a lighter shade and paint in the highlights, I always switch around between painting highlights and shadows so it’s balanced
Step 8 : even more highlights + glossy points and a few single hairs
Step 9 : this one is optional - I used my marker on a new layer set to ‘overlay’ and painted in light orange and dark red to make it more colorful
my tip is - try not to make it TOO detailed or the hair will look like a weird wig, also don’t be afraid to use different hues (I used dark violet and light orange for example)
